A Singapore work visa may be necessary for you to complete certain business activities. Below, we discuss the process of how to obtain a Singapore business visa.

What Is a Singapore Business Visa?

A Singapore business visa is an immigration document that is required for people from other countries to enter Singapore, including India. You must apply for and obtain a Singapore business visa before you can enter Singapore.

The Singapore business visa is a multi-entry visa that is valid for up to two years from the date of issuance. However, each entry is only good for a maximum of 30 days. You must apply for your Singapore business visa at least two weeks before your anticipated travel date.

You can use this visa to visit Singapore for business purposes as well as to visit friends and family.

How to Apply for a Singapore Business Visa

A convenient electronic system is now available to apply for a Singapore business visa.  This system has largely streamlined and expedited the process. You can receive your visa typically within five to seven working days from the time you apply. Your visa will come as a pdf file through this application process, which you can print out.

Horizons can assist you with the application process and help you avoid unforeseen visa rejections.

Information to Accompany Your Singapore Business Visa

To obtain a Singapore business visa, you must submit the following along with your completed application:

  • Original passport with at least six months remaining on it and at least two blank pages
  • Recent 35×45 colored photograph with white background
  • Completed Form V39(A)
  • Invitation letter from the host company
  • Personal cover letter that explains the purpose of your travel
  • Bank statement for the last six months with the bank’s seal
  • Confirmed return air ticket

There may be additional documents based on your reason for travel, length of stay or nationality.  For example, you may need to have a letter on business letterhead that states the reason for your travel.

In some situations, you may be asked about where you will be staying and may need to provide proof of this, such as showing your hotel reservations.

You may need to submit an employment card to show proof of your employment or proof of your business, such as articles of incorporation, a partnership deed or registration certificate. You may also need to provide proof of your residence overseas.

It is also recommended that you purchase health and travel insurance in case you have any medical emergency while in Singapore since health care here can be very expensive. Travel insurance can provide assistance in case you encounter a medical emergency, baggage delay or other interruption of your travel.

Using Your Singapore Business Visa

Once you arrive in Singapore, you will need to present it and your passport to immigration authorities. You might be asked about the reason for your travel and about your travel accommodations in Singapore.  Additionally, you may be asked to show proof of funds for your travel. You may be asked to provide evidence of medical insurance in case you have a medical insurance while in Singapore.
