Healthcare in Taiwan (China)

All employees are covered for healthcare under the National Health Insurance (NHI) Scheme. Enrolment in the scheme is compulsory for all Taiwanese citizens and foreign workers. The system provides free healthcare for all.

Pensions in Taiwan (China)

There is a compulsory pension scheme in Taiwan. Employers must contribute at least 6% of the employee’s monthly salary to the new pension scheme. Employee contributions are voluntary.

The pension is paid to a government account under the Labor Bureau, so employees keep accumulating a pension even if they change employers.

The pension scheme applies to Taiwanese citizens, foreign spouses of Taiwanese nationals, and APRC holders.

Disability in Taiwan (China)

Disability Pension is a benefit available to employees who have suffered a permanent disability and are considered permanently unable to work.

The amount payable is calculated based on the years of coverage with a minimum amount payable of NT$ 4,000.

Unemployment in Taiwan (China)

Unemployment insurance is paid by the government at 60% of an employee’s average insured monthly salary in the six-month period before the end of their employment. It is paid for a maximum of six months.
